News ReleaseTexas Honky Tonker Releases First Album Austin,
Texas October 1, 2002.
Some of Central Texas’ finest musicians joined Dave Jorgenson in
creating the music for the nine original songs in his début album Then
and Now. From the
haunting Spanish Guitar of Rick McRae in “Living a Lie”, to the vibrant
steel guitar of Kenny Grohman and honky tonk piano of
Ronnie Huckaby in “No Way, No How”, this album is pure Country and
pure Dave Jorgenson. “Dave’s
music lets the individual musicians showcase and express their particular
styles” said Benny McArthur who helped Dave produce the album.
Country music fans will recognize Benny as the tall slim guitar player in
the Ace in the Hole band who stands behind George Strait.
Benny also contributed lead guitar and harmony vocals to several of the
songs on the album. Shane Laurence provided lead guitar on some of the tracks,
while Rick Connell on drums, Haydn Vitera on fiddle and Jacob Hildebrand on
rhythm guitar rounded out the group. The
album was recorded at the Firestation Studios in San Marcos, Texas with
Bobby Arnold doing the engineering. Dave
Jorgenson wrote all of the words and music and performed all of the lead vocals. “Then
and Now is a dream come true, and I am very grateful to the
musicians and fans that made it possible” said Dave Jorgenson. “I wrote these songs over several years as I toured the
Midwest with Rio, and performed around Texas with Big Iron.
It was extremely satisfying to work with such a great group of people to
bring this music to life.” He added. Dave
grew up in the small town of Perry, Kansas.
He has opened for Country Music greats such as Chris LeDoux and Patti
Loveless, and has performed in some of the West’s great honky tonks.
His music echo’s the influence of Merle Haggard and George Strait, but
is as unique and fresh as the young man who wrote it.
Look for Dave to be appearing soon around Central Texas to perform his
unique version of Texas Honky Tonk. Then
and Now
is published by Ferguson Road Music, 220 Elmer Cove, Kyle TX 78640, and is
available on CD. Excerpts of the
songs on the CD can be heard at the web site: http://www.davejorgenson.com.
